CHECK OUT THE NEW SINGLE THAT'S SURE TO BE AN ANTHEM
Born January 3, 1994 as Maurice Washington. Reece started to pursue music at age 11, under the guidance of his father, releasing his first mixtape at age 12. This mixtape automatically floated around his school and the city of Warren. Once his father figured out he was serious, he released his first track, entitled: ‘So Cold’ featuring family artists: Cane Capone and Don Dolione, gaining him publicity around his city and a few others.
Following its release people started to note his unusual ability for punch lines. “I always say things that make other people say ‘dang, how did he say that and make it go together’”, says Reece. Many people may know him as his usual stage name: Yung Reece, but he said he dropped the ‘Yung’ because he’s now older and wiser and he will start to convey that through his upcoming music. Since the release of ‘So Cold’, he has done several songs, mixtapes, and albums, all with his fellow artist: The Clown. The Clown, who used to go under the stage name: Felony is Reece’s close friend, family member, and co-worker, who has been with him since the beginning of his rap career. Reece has had the opportunity to work with Billboard producers, such as: Lil Keis (Wonton Soup) and DeeMoney (John Wall).
Quiet since early 2012 after he released the highly awaited mixtape: Metamorphosis Stage 2, which earned solid numbers of downloads and listens throughout the state. Reece took a several month hiatus, when he accepted a full paid scholarship to Tuskegee University, in Alabama where he is majoring in Computer Science. He plans to step it back up in 2013 with mixtapes, an EP, and even possibly a summer tour. When asked what inspires him he stated that he gets inspiration from the founders and veterans of Hip hop such as Tupac, but his all time favorite rapper is : Eminem. However, when writing songs, he goes beyond them and listens to other Generes of music, especially country, because “They always tell their story in creative ways..”.
In an interview for his website: iReece.com ( launching in 2013), he was asked to describe how his future music would be, he replied: “It’ll be me…after all it is MY music right… if people don’t want to listen to me, then they’re simply not a fan…I will continue to put God first and do what I love.”
